How to Water a Yucca?
of reading
It's called the "waterless plant" or the student's tree. The Yucca is the champion of survival.
Native to the hot deserts of Central America (Mexico, Guatemala), it is accustomed to extreme conditions. It's the ideal plant if you don't have a green thumb or if you travel often.
Yet, many yuccas end up in the trash, their trunks limp and their leaves yellow. The cause? Too much love (and too much water). Here's how to keep it alive for years.

1. When to water? (Less is more)
The Yucca stores water in its thick trunk (the stipe). It therefore has its own reserves.
- Spring/Summer: Water every 10 to 15 days. The soil should dry out several centimeters between waterings.
- Autumn/Winter: Water very sparingly! Once a month is more than enough. The plant is dormant and hardly needs any water.
The foolproof test: Push your finger into the soil 3-4 cm deep. If you feel the slightest moisture, don't water it. Wait until it's as dry as dust.

2. How to water effectively?
When you decide to water, don't be timid. In the desert, it rarely rains, but when it does, it rains heavily.
Water thoroughly until water drains from the drainage holes. This ensures all the roots are hydrated. Then, be sure to empty the saucer . If the roots sit in residual water, the trunk will rot from the inside.
The Watering Can for Large Formats
The Yucca is often a large plant with a large footprint. To water it generously without having to go back and forth, you need a good-sized container.
- 💧 1.5L capacity: Perfect for saturating the root ball of a large Yucca.
- ✨ Stainless Steel Design: Solid and elegant, it remains beautiful placed at the foot of your tree.

3. Why do the tips of the leaves dry out?
If you see the tips of the leaves turning brown and dry, it is not a lack of watering at the base (do not add more water!).
This is a sign that the air is too dry . This is very common in winter due to electric heating. The Yucca tolerates dry soil, but it appreciates some ambient humidity to keep its beautiful green foliage.

The "Green Leaves" solution
Instead of watering the soil (risk of rot), mist the foliage!
- ☁️ Local hydration: Prevents dryness of the ends.
- 🛡️ Dust Remover: Cleans leaves for better photosynthesis.
4. SOS Yucca: The telltale signs

- Yellow and limp leaves: Too much water! You're drowning the plant. Stop watering and let it dry out for 3 weeks.
- Soft trunk to the touch: Root rot. It's often too late. Try taking cuttings from the healthy tip.
- Lower leaves drying out and falling off: This is normal. The Yucca is growing and shedding its old leaves to form its trunk.
In summary
The Yucca is a tough customer. The best care you can give it is to forget about it for a while .
Water infrequently, but generously, and give it a little "pschitt" of mist from time to time.
